Brazil’s latest effort to get one over their fierce rivals Argentina is the stuff of nightmares.
Brazilian TV behemoth Globo have built a giant animatronics version of Argentina’s talismanic striker Lionel Messi.
The robot version of the Barcelona forward can smile, wiggle his nose and strike fear into the hearts of man, woman, child and beast.
The truly horrifying contraption features in the TV network’s segments between matches, presumably to ensure that viewers never, ever close their eyes again and therefore, continue watching their World Cup coverage.
Is this just a light-hearted stunt by the Brazilian media or is the beginning of something much more sinister? For all we know, this could be the beginning of some sort of robo-apocalypse, in which mechanical versions of the most gifted humans rise up to overthrow our leaders and enslave humanity.
I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.
