FIFA have today confirmed that they have received an appeal from Brazil against Thiago Silva's booking and subsequent suspension from the World Cup semi-final against Germany. Silva was booked for a stupid challenge on Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina in the second half of their 2-1 quarter final win:

Speaking after game Brazilian coach Phil Scolari said he was stunned at the decision presumably because Brazil seemed to be immune from bookings in the game:
”For Thiago, who was running in front of the goalkeeper, he gets a yellow card, so we can’t understand some things.
The appeal has little or no chance of success so it seems that it's just a shot to nothing from Brazil though it might be good if this particular Pandora's box was opened and retrospective erasing and awarding of yellow cards came into play, Fernandinho, we're looking at you.
