Spanish midfielder Brahim Diaz has left Manchester City for £15 million, returning to Spain with Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old has found opportunities hard to come by at the Etihad, in three seasons at Manchester the midfielder has only made 14 appearances, and hasn't featured in a single Premier League game this season as Pep Guardiola has relied on more senior options in his squad.

The midfielder, who scored a brace in Man City's Carabao Cup win over Fulham this season, will join Madrid for an initial £15.5m fee, which could rise to £22 million with add-ons.

While City will be somewhat sad to see a promising player leave the club, there are numerous reports that they have taken measures to assure Diaz does not return to Manchester, well, Manchester United that is.

City have apparently placed a clause in the player's contract that means they will garner 15% of any future sale of the player. If the player happens to move to their crosstown rivals however, City will gain 40% of any potential sale, which effectively constitutes a barrier to Madrid wanting to sell the player to United.

The club clearly rate the youngster high enough to bother installing this clause in the player's contract, though it does seem petty that City have tried to put Madrid off of selling Diaz to their crosstown rivals.
