Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan are in a similar position to which Richie Towell found himself at this time last year - joining a Championship side midway through the English season.
Towell joined a Brighton side with serious ambitions of getting promoted. Their starting team would be a hard one to break into. So it proved as the former Dundalk player managed just two appearances.
Due to injury, he is yet to make a league appearance for Brighton this season. Signs have been promising with starts for the club's U23 side in the EFL Trophy. In two starts in the competition, Towell has two goals.
Speaking on Off The Ball on Monday night, Kevin Kilbane said that he believes Preston to be the perfect club for Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan and that Towell would have been better served in joining a team like Preston or Barnsley.
Kilbane believes that the duo will get the games at Preston which Towell did not with Brighton.
I think it's the perfect club for them, I really do.
If Richie Towell had gone to a Preston or perhaps gone to a Barnsley, who had just come up to the Championship, I think he could have had maybe 20-30 games under his belt.
I think Simon Grayson will give these two lads a chance. They'll earn good money over the next couple of years.
I think there's potential for them to go into that side, play games. Without being disrespectful to Preston, use it as a stepping stone. If they do well, Preston will look after them. They'll let them move on. Simon Grayson knows that.
They're going to a good, solid club where everything is done right. Alan Kelly's in there as well. There's a good Irish contingent that's in the club anyway which will certainly help and I think it's a great move for them both.
Hopefully, they'll get Preston in and around the playoff spots because I think they've got potential to do that.
