Liverpool's interest in Jude Bellingham is probably the worst kept secret in football.
It seems that the Merseyside club are desperate to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, even putting their midfield succession plan on hold for a full year in the hopes of luring him to Anfield in the summer of 2023. Jurgen Klopp all but admitted their interest in him in recent times, although said that a deal was not possible in the most recent transfer window.
Of course, they will face plenty of competition for his signature. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City are set to pursue him, with fresh reports also indicating that Real Madrid might now be his most likely destination. Regardless of who does sign him, it was thought that it will likely take a transfer fee of over €100million order to get the deal over the line.
However, it has been suggested that Liverpool could have a trump card up their sleeve when it comes to negotiations with his current club.
Borussia Dortmund considering Jude Bellingham swap with Liverpool
German outlet Sport Bild are reporting that Borussia Dortmund would consider a swap deal with Liverpool for Jude Bellingham, with the transfer even a possibility in the January window.
It is claimed that the German club are keen on signing Naby Keita, whose contract expires in the summer of 2023. However, he is currently out of favour at Anfield and it is said that Dortmund would be keen to bring him on board during the winter transfer window in order to avoid a free agent race a few months later.
This deal would certainly be of huge interest to Liverpool, who could potentially add their prime target while also shifting a sizeable earner off their wage bill.
It remains to be seen if it would be a runner, with a massive still going to be required even if Keita moves in the opposite direction.
