After the news a couple of weeks ago that Shelbourne would be offering afternoon tea (kind of) at Tolka Park, outside the box thinking is very much in vogue in the League of Ireland. Want proof?
Lewis Kenny has been appointed Poet in Residence 2015 at Bohemian FC - the first such appointment in Irish football.
That's part of a statement from the Dalymount Park club who have, as it says right there, signed up a Poet in Residence for the new season. According to the statement:
The 21-year-old student from Cabra will compose poems about the club, Dalymount Park, football and the local community which will be published in the club’s match-day programmes.
For his trouble, Kenny has been given a VIP season ticket and, understandably as a Bohs fans, he's delighted to be able to represent the club in any way he can.
My boyhood dream was to play for Bohemians, and I have been a fan all my life. I never thought I would represent the club as a poet.
It's certainly a unique idea and like we said for Shelbourne's idea a few weeks ago, there's no harm thinking outside the box when it comes to ways to improve your football club. There can't be too many clubs with their own poet in residence.
