Bohemians are now up to second in the Airtricity League following an impressive 2-1 win against champions Dundalk at Dalymount.

Dundalk were left dazed by two early goals from Bohs as a Danny Grant header and a strike by Keith Buckley gave Keith Long's men a 2-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes.

Michael Duffy's header reduced the deficit but Vinny Perth's side were unable to find an equaliser.

Prior to the game, Bohemians created an online buzz with their team news which explained the absence of their talented midfielder Danny Mandroiu.

The gifted midfielder's name was on the club's absentee list for the visit of the reigning champions alongside the injured Paddy Kirk, Ross Tierney, and Cristian Magerusan.

While 'ankle' and 'knee' were cited as the injuries for Tierney, Kirk, and Magerusan, the explanation for Mandroiu's absence was a little bit more left-field.

The club have since explained that this was an internal joke that appeared in a preview mailout before it was corrected in an online version.

The statement reads: "Something that appeared in our team news has understandably annoyed one of our players for which we sincerely apologise. Team news was circulated on WhatsApp yesterday, and what later appeared was sent back to the sender as a joke.

"When the match preview was compiled, this was copied/pasted accidentally and appeared in a preview mailout before it was corrected in the online version. Sincere apologies to the player involved for understandable but unintended annoyance and potential reputational damage caused."

The player has also released a statement via Twitter, which said: "Regarding the team news that Bohemians sent out earlier, what was said was completely untrue, I am out injured at the moment. I'm sure you will hear this from the club too eventually but I just wanted to clear that up for myself and my reputation."

Bohemians take on Finn Harps next week.
