Blow It Up Ref, We Have A Winner For The Most Ludicrous Transfer Rumour Of The Year

A couple of weeks ago we put together a lighthearted little piece about how to spot a bullshit transfer rumour. At the time we thought we had done quite a good job. We were wrong. We hereby apologise to anyone who read that article because, quite simply, it was criminally unfinished.

The problem? We forgot to mention that any rumour that says Real Madrid are going to sell Karim Benzema so they can buy Harry Kane is Bullshit 101. Rookie mistake from us.

Yes that's right, according to the Express, Real Madrid want to raise funds to buy Harry Kane by selling Karim Benzema. (There's also mention of Raheem Sterling but that's much too possible to be entertaining)

Now before Spurs fans out there are ready to have a go about what a good player Harry Kane is, actually no, never mind, we're willing to hear all complaints. Harry Kane is a perfectly serviceable Premier League striker and he has shown that this year, but Real Madrid, the European Champions, really?

What our original article did have was a warning about dodgy translations from foreign tabloids and that is front and centre here. Fichajes.net are the source of this beauty of a rumour.

"Harry Kane en la agenda del Real Madrid". Could someone translate that for us? Does it mean "we're quite simply taking the piss at this stage"?
