The Italian Lega Pro Prima Divisione derby match between Salernitana and Nocerina was delayed by 40 minutes because visitors Nocerina refused to take the field because of alleged death threats aimed at their players.
When the game finally did kick off, the away team made all three of their regulation substitutes after just two minutes in what Nocerina director of sport Luigi Pavarese claimed was a "management decision",
Following the unusual change, the away team then lost five players to injury, dropping their side to six players and forcing the referee to abandon the game after twenty one minutes.
Pavarese defended the mysterious events, stating that the injuries were as a result of "not warming up properly".
The Italian league has opened an investigation into the matter while Nocerina's entire board of director's have also resigned.
