They played together for just the two seasons at Tottenham, but in that period Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane plundered 92 goals between them, with their telepathic understanding as a front two one of the main reasons for some of the best goal returns of their career.
This is a fact that is not lost on Berbatov who has often spoken about his fruitful partnership with the former Ireland international, telling ESPN that Keane was his favourite striking partnership above any in his career:
More than good, it was my best partnership. We just understood each other. He knew who I was. He wasn't going to bother me and ask why I wasn't speaking and I respected that. We had an understanding on the pitch and I always knew where he was.
In another admission of the two striker's great chemistry together, the Bulgarian has today released the latest in his series of Instagram goal breakdowns, highlighting how effective he and Keane were their pomp:
I want to show you this goal to show that if you have good attacking players and they know how to play with each other you're going to cause problems all day long.
He (Keane) starts running towards the goal with the ball, but he is alone against two defenders. He's looking over his shoulders, waiting for support. I know this and I give him my support.
The moment I am up there with him I am pointing to him where to pass the ball, and he passed it in between the line of the defenders. This pass is dangerous and very good if you know how to play it.
It was a classy goal choice by the former Spurs man, and is emblematic of the great understanding the pair had while playing together at White Hart Lane.
