Some clubs would be happy with the £50 million-ish outlay that Liverpool have spent on their six new additions to their squad, but various reports suggest that Liverpool's spending is far from over.
The player most heavily linked with a move to Anfield is Aston Villa's Belgian striker Christian Benteke. The Belgian has had a good Premier League career so far, scoring 42 goals in 82 games for the struggling Birmingham club. The highest Villa have finished in that period has been 15th, but that hasn't stopped Benteke from scoring goals.
Benteke has already told Villa that he will not sign their offer of a new contract, which has alerted both Man United and Chelsea. Neither of those clubs have Benteke high on their priority list however, which leaves Liverpool as reportedly the only serious contenders left to sign him.
The Mirror are reporting that Liverpool have returned to Villa with an offer of £25 for the striker, who has a £32.5 million release clause.
Other, less likely, transfer targets include Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca, Barcelona forward Pedro, and Real Madrid winger Denis Chreyshev.
