When Harry Redknapp appeared on the Spurs Show podcast and claimed that his former player Benoit Assou-Ekotto may not be joining him at Birmingham thing summer because he wants to be a pornstar, we thought we were dealing with the story of the year.
It was Redknapp playing a parody of himself to perfection and living up to the meme of him signing only players that he worked with a Tottenham and Portsmouth, and for the always unusual Assou-Ekotto, as someone who has been reported to have never been in love with the game of football, it seemed just right.
But alas, we've all been had. It turns out that Harry Redknapp was leading us all on as the Cameroon international spoke to France Football on Sunday to clear things up.
A lady in England alerted me on Twitter at the time, it rather surprised me. From what I understood, it was in a show, Redknapp was asked about the players he would like to recruit. He talked about me, joked, and then he moved on.
It made me laugh, but my mother discovered it this morning, Mother's Day. She told me she would have preferred another gift.
It was just a joke, it's not bad. What's absurd is that we can take it seriously. As if I wanted to become a porn actor! It's far too taboo.

As for Benoit not understanding why so many people believed it, it's probably because Harry called it "the gospel truth"...

The former Spurs man also took to Instagram to inform his followers that he wants to keep playing football.
Perhaps it's worrying for Assou-Ekotto that as soon as the words left his old manager's mouth nobody even doubted it for a second, but now we just have to wait and see whether he actually will join up with Birmingham this summer as it's clear he won't be busy filming.
