It was a massive result on Thursday night for Pep Guardiola and Man City as they overcame Liverpool 2-1 at the Etihad to prove that they're not giving up their title without a fight.
In an absorbing clash, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane scored two superb goals to give their side the win, with Roberto Firmino's header not enough for the Reds as City cut Liverpool's lead at the top to four points.
At full time, the Etihad erupted as the City fans and players celebrated a vital win, though for two Manchester City stewards it was panic stations as they moved to tackle a pitch invader that had entered the pitch.
The problem was however, that the pitch invader was none other than City full back Benjamin Mendy, running onto the field to celebrate with his team mates.
The two officials obviously didn't realise this, chasing the Frenchman to the edge of the centre circle before realising the error of their ways and amusingly trying to save face by continuing their run past the player to the referee:
Huge fan of the stewards who thought Mendy was a pitch invader just carrying on their runs as if they’ve missed the number 6 bus and are hiding the embarrassment. pic.twitter.com/jwNOaMDHRr

At least Mendy saw the funny side of the incident, posting the video on his instagram account with the caption; "Almost got tackled yesterday while pitch invading ?????? I felt like Antonio Brown ?? escaping the defense."
