For the first time ever, the BBC has published the salaries of its top stars.
The corporation's annual report was released at 11am this morning, and Match of the Day host Gary Lineker is the second-highest paid 'on-air talent' at the BBC. He earns between an eye-watering £1,750,000 - £1,800,000 per year. The BBC have pooled together all of the stars' work over the last year, so Lineker doesn't just get that for Match of the Day: he also hosts Sports Personality of the Year, and last year fronted their coverage of Euro 2016, too.
Alan Shearer also makes an appearance in the top ten, he is earning between £400,000 and £449,000.
All the talent on the list draw their salaries from the licensing fees paid by the British public.

Happy BBC salary day. I blame my agent and the other TV channels that pay more. Now where did I put my tin helmet?

The BBC is the first of the major TV networks to release its salary list. It is yet to be seen whether any other company will publish their earnings publicly.
25 men on the talent list receive more than £250,000, compared to just nine women.
