Barcelona are hoping to raid Liverpool once again, and this time they have set their sights towards Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian striker is apparently being closely monitored by the Spanish giants, who see him as the ideal replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez.
Per the Express, Spanish Journalist and director of media outlet Ok Diario, Eduardo Inda, believes the Catalan club see Firmino as their top target.
It's about Firmino, Liverpool player
I already said that Luis Suarez is seen increasingly stubborn and they are considering doing the same operation as Coutinho.
But I guess at the end of the season, not halfway through.
The road between Anfield and the Camp Nou has been a well-travelled one in recent times, with Luis Suárez and Phillipe Coutinho both making the move in the past few years. Javier Mascherano also transferred between the clubs in 2010.
It is not known how receptive Firmino would be to any move, but he has expressed his commitment to the Liverpool cause in the recent past. He also signed a long-term contract in April of this year.
Liverpool will be all too aware that Barcelona are relentless in their pursuit of transfer targets, with the Coutinho transfer saga being one of the most drawn out in recent years.
The Spanish club first made their move during the summer transfer window in 2017, with Liverpool unwilling to negotiate a deal. This period seen Coutinho sit out the team's opening games of the season in hopes of pushing through a move, something he would eventually achieve in January of this year for a fee of £142million.
In an age where footballers have more power than ever before, it seems the potential for a move such as this one will largely rest on the desire of the player himself.
Jürgen Klopp will hope that Firmino remains committed to the vision he has for Liverpool, and retaining his services will be key as they seek to re-establish themselves amongst the European elite.
