So Cesc Fàbregas has appeared in an excellently-produced advert for Beats by Dré headphones, which depicts the Barcelona team bus on its way to the Bernabéu for a Clásico encounter with Real Madrid.

It shows groups of Madrid ultras singing anti-Catalan chants and being chased through the streets by police. Cesc puts on his mind-bogglingly expensive headwear and the noise of the baying crowd is blocked out.

It was due to be shown at half time during last night's hectic 4-3 win for the Blaugrana, even though club president Josep Maria Bartomeu asked that the advertisement be withdrawn due to what the club sees as its negative message, almost certainly as a result of the political nature of the chanting. He said: 'We don't like the message it sends out, which is why we have asked for it to be withdrawn.'

It was screened on BT Sport during Chelsea's 6-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday.
