Listen, man, no one wants you to succeed as much as we do and admittedy we are a bit down on the whole concept of sport after the 3 hours we just wasted watching it, but hear us out: you were playing in a team with 7 defenders this evening, you were the only card-carrying central midfielder in your starting team, a side which craved a possession-maintaining player, you were playing against a central midfield starring both Deneilson and Abu Diaby...if ever there was an opportunity for you to seize the moment and reveal to the doubters that you have both the hunger and the skill to wear the jersey that other great midfielders (who we have no desire to list) wore with pride, it was tonight. Maybe you sensed from the off that Arsenal wasn't up for it and the whole match was a non-event - in which case, we will do something that no one has ever done and laud your game-reading abilities - but I watched most of the match and it seemed like when play moved in one direction, you moved in the other. I've never seen a player seek out anonymity so desperately. Do you doubt yourself? Are you in on the joke? Why not try to appease the doubters by getting stuck in? We want you to succeed, but if you're not gonna do it tonight, I doubt you're gonna do it on Tuesday vs OM.
