Liverpool have made a £30m bid for Brazilian striker Luan according to Brazilian radio station Futebol de Gaucha. That certainly won't be music to the ears of Daniel Sturridge who was dropped for Liverpool's game against Spurs at the weekend.
Luan was a part of the Brazilian Olympic squad that finally secured a first gold for the men's team just 2 weeks ago, scoring 2 goals along the way. Manchester United were reportedly interested in signing the 23-year-old but Liverpool have become favourites to secure his signature having lodged an official bid.
Gremio vice-president Alberto Guerra has said that he will consider offers for the striker should they come in.
Every good player is targeted. If a proposal arrives, we will analyse.
The Brazillian's potential transfer will surely spell bad news for Daniel Sturridge who has reportedly fallen out with Jurgen Klopp.
Luan's arrival will be sure to divide opinions, with many believing that Daniel Sturridge is a truly world-class player when fully fit. However, Sturridge has struggled to remain fit for a couple of seasons now and with Divock Origi and Mario Balotelli as the back-ups, Liverpool fans may think that another striker would not go amiss.
Look at it this way, the recent sale of Benteke has left £27m burning a hole in Klopp's pocket. You could say they're getting a promising young talent for £3 million while offloading a player who was never going to fit into Jurgen Klopp's high pressure style of play.
Anyway, everyone loves signing promising young Brazilian players don't they? It basically never goes wrong...
