Shane Curran was presented with the Balls.ie Man of the Year award for 2013 at a star-studded ceremony in the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin today.
The prize-giving was a tad overdue, and the whole thing was reminiscent of one of those All-Irelands in the 1920s, when the winners of the 1923 All-Ireland played the final in 1925 or something.
Afterwards, as part of our new 'Off The Cuff' series, he spoke to us about subjects as diverse as Luke 'Ming' Flanagan, Willie Hegarty, blowing up the science lab in school and smearing vaseline on Galway goalkeeper Alan Keane's gloves before a Connacht championship game.
(We should add that we don't believe that Longford Town is necessarily an all around better club than Athlone Town. That is merely the extremely biased personal opinion of the interviewer).
