Aston Villa are in the process of being put out of their Premier League misery. They've been treading water in the nether reaches of the top flight for many years now.
At this stage, it appears that relegation would nearly lighten things up for the average Villa fan. The status quo is no good.
Villa fans had announced their intention to stage a mass walkout at the Everton game on the 74th minute - not in protest at ticket prices or anything like that but simply on account of their team's horrifying decline.
The protest on the 74th minute didn't materialise in quite the numbers that had been envisaged. Not because of a few tenacious loyalists were determined to see out the 90 but because many fans couldn't tolerate waiting another 14 minutes after Romelu Lukaku made it 3-0 to Everton on the hour mark.
Nonetheless, hundreds of fans did march out on the 74th minute, serenading the owners area with chants of 'WE WANT LERNER OUT!!!'

Maybe this is the way forward. While they were gone, Villa actually scored through Rudy Gestede, five minutes later.
It's not a great time be an #avfc fan is it? https://t.co/PXECSdHR65

Not particularly the mass walkout some Villa fans hoped for, but over 10,000 of them didn't turn up. https://t.co/RdBUl95Reg

It prompted the Mirror to go uncharastically philosophical, wondering that if Villa score a goal while none of their fans see it, have they actually scored it?
The unbearable shitness of being an Aston Villa fan.
