Ever since Manchester United failed to score with a staggering 81 crosses against Fulham in the match that signalled the beginning of the end for David Moyes in 2014, you could forgive the Old Trafford faithful for never wanting to see another one.
That said, on Tuesday night United took the lead against Basel to an inch-perfect whipped ball from Ashley Young who was a surprise selection at right-back.
After taking the captain's armband from Paul Pogba who limped off through injury after 20 minutes, Young provided the assist for the man who replaced Pogba as big Belgian Marouane Fellaini couldn't miss the chance presented to him.
In some throwback wide-play from the 32-year-old, Young beat his man and delivered a perfect ball for Fellaini to afro home.
That is perfection.
It is also exactly what Mourinho ordered as Old Trafford went a little flat following Pogba's injury and an easy chance missed by Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Ashley Young would have hoped for a good performance tonight to remind the fans and indeed Mourinho how useful he can be due to his versatility, and he's done just that with a sublime assist.
