Liverpool versus Arsenal at Anfield is the highest-profile fixture of the weekend, as a resistible force collides with a moveable object. Arsene Wenger dropped a bombshell ahead of kick-off: Alexis Sanchez dropped to the bench for no discernable reason.
Wenger is facing his ususal Ides of March this week: they lag behind in the Premier League title race, and are chasing a steep deficit against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in the endless cycle of repetition that is life at Arsenal. Anfield has been the scene of a couple of the more famous spring time capitulations under Wenger: a Champions League quarter-final was thrown away by Emmanuel Eboue in 2008, while they were league leaders when they were pulverised 5-1 in 2014, a game in which Luis Suarez did not even score.
Ahead of today's game, Jake Humphrey of BT Sport was granted a one-on-one sit down with Wenger, and found Wenger to be somewhat irascible form.
