Arsenal have taken their consistency to egregious levels: a 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich has been followed by a 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich.
After the first leg, an aghast Arsene Wenger was almost speechless in front of the media, answering just three questions before moving out morosely. After tonight's capitulation, he fronted up to face the cameras, and was in a more fighting mood. He praised Arsenal's performance, and said that the game was ruined by the referee, whose performance he believed was "revolting" and "scandalous".
Speaking to the assembled media, Wenger said that he believes the club is in great shape, while refusing to discuss his future.

He elaborated on his criticisms of the ref in his TV interview with BT Sport. Wenger said that Theo Walcott should have been awarded a penalty for a challenge by Xabi Alonso, that Arturo Vidal should have been sent off for a high tackle on his compatriot Alexis Sanchez (Graeme Souness agreed that it was red card on TV3, although the ref did not even book Vidal), while pointing out that Lewandowski was offside before he drew a penalty and red card from Laurent Koscielny, decisions Wenger vehemently disagreed with.
BT did not cross-examine Wenger too harshly post-game, and you can watch that interview below.
