Arsenal and Liverpool played out an entertaining game at the Emirates. Both looked vulnerable at times. In the end, it was Liverpool who were a little less so.

Here's how we rated the performances.

Arsenal

Petr Cech - 6

Can't be blamed for the concession of any goals. Coutinho's free kick - in particular - was unstoppable.

Hector Bellerin - 6

Had a good first half but like Arsenal as a whole, not as good in the second 45 minutes.

Rob Holding - 6

Despite his side conceding four goals, the 20-year-old did fairly well in his Premier League debut, just three weeks after signing from Bolton. Looks decent in the air.

Calum Chambers - 6

Scored the goal which made the game 4-3. Looked nervy in possession when passing out of defence.

Nacho Monreal - 5

Got beaten for pace by Clyne for the cross which led to Liverpool's third goal. Combined well with Alex Iwobi in the first half.

Mohamed Elneny - 6

The more impressive of Arsenal's defensive midfield duo.

Replaced by Xhaka after 67 minutes.

Francis Coquelin - 5

Made a tackle which led to Walcott's opening goal but did not put a mark on the game otherwise.

Theo Walcott - 7

Walcott had an encouraging first half. He won a penalty after being taken down by Alberto Moreno. He also took and missed it. The 27-year-old made up for it 69 seconds later though by scoring the opening goal of the game.

Aaron Ramsey - 7

Looked inventive and lively. Went off injured after an hour. Replaced by Santi Cazorla.

Alex Iwobi - 6.5

Found Theo Walcott in space inside the box for Arsenal's first goal. Looked energetic. Replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after 58 minutes.

Alexis Sanchez - 5

Anonymous. Bar his name being on the Arsenal teamsheet, you probably would not have known he was on the pitch.

Subs:

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 6

Santi Cazorla - 7

Someone Arsenal could have done with being on the pitch earlier in the game. Set up both Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain's goal to make it 2-4 and flighted a superb free kick which Callum Chambers headed in to get Arsenal within a goal.

Granit Xhaka - 6

Liverpool

Simon Mignolet - 7

Saved a first half penalty from Theo Walcott. Can't really be blamed for any of Arsenal's goals.

Nathaniel Clyne - 7

After a first half where he looked hesitant going forward, he put in superb cross for Philippe Coutinho's second goal, Liverpool's third of the game.

Dejan Lovren - 6

Probably at fault for Arsenal's second. Turned his back on Oxlade-Chamberlain's strike when he could have made a more incisive contribution.

Ragnar Klavan - 7

The Estonian, making his Liverpool debut, looked the more solid of Liverpool's centre-back partnership.

Alberto Moreno - 4

When you're as erratic a footballer as the Spaniard can be, it's probably best not to attract attention to yourself. Moreno certainly did not heed that philosophy by electing to have an awful haircut for the game. His hair style was matched in awfulness by his performance.

His rash challenge on Theo Walcott gave Arsenal a first half penalty. He was also well out of position for Walcott's goal.

Adam Lallana - 7.5

After a poor first half. Lallana started the second like a man who hard words ringing in his ears. After an excellent ball in from Wijnaldum, he superbly controlled and then finished past Petr Cech.

Jordan Henderson - 7

Solid in a deep-lying midfield role.

Georginio Wijnaldum - 7.5

Fairly anonymous in the first half. Played a lovely ball into Adam Lallana for the goal which put Liverpool ahead at the start of the second half.

Sadio Mane - 8

Scored with a superb finish on his Liverpool debut. It turned out to be the winner. An excellent debut. Looked like a constant danger.

Roberto Firmino - 6

Didn't contribute as much as he or Jurgen Klopp would have wanted.

Philippe Coutinho - 8.5

Scored a wonderful first half free kick to make it 1-1 at half time. Also added Liverpool's second with a super first time finish.

Subs:

Emre Can - 6

Divock Origi - N/A

Kevin Stewart - N/A
