Leading German publications Bild and Kicker are both reporting that Bayern are plotting a move for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez this summer.
The Chilean's future at the Emirates has been the source of much speculation in the latter parts of this season, not least due to Arsenal's incessant failings and his frequent on-field 'I'm such a winner' tantrums (and even some weird carry-on at Bayern's Allianz Arena in the Champions League last 16), but the German champions reportedly intend to come to Sanchez's aid this summer.
Bild report that Bayern have said they plan on signing Sanchez for a fraction of his €65m market value due to his current Gunners contract expiring next year, which would be a real pain in the arse for Arsene Wenger and co. A move to Bavaria would see the 28-year-old Sanchez link up with both international teammate Arturo Vidal and very good footballer Robert Lewandowski, with the latter pairing in particular exciting the German outlet:
Sanchez would be a perfect match for Lewandowski, because he can play in both the Sturmspitze and the wings.
The failings of Google Translate. Pidgin German and indeed pidgin football knowledge, however, would lead us to believe 'sturm' (lead) and 'pitze' (top) together roughly translate to 'striker'.
Bild write of "Super-Knipser" (no idea) Sanchez:
What the Bavarians are saying is that the Chilean contract expires at Arsenal in 2018, so it would be well below its market value ( 65m euros). In addition, he would play alongside his national team mate Arturo Vidal (29) in Munich. However, the Bavarians are not the only interested parties. Paris St-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are also keen to keep their eye on Sanchez
The good news ends there for Spurs fans, however, as Bild are also reporting that Bayern are planning to sign right-back Kyle Walker in addition to Sanchez, what with Philip Lahm due to retire in the summer.
The 26-year-old Walker has enjoyed one of his finer seasons at Spurs, and would likely set Bayern back a modest €20m if transfermarkt is to be believed.
