After such a bizarre season we were always expecting this summer transfer window to be one of the more ridiculous in recent memory as the big clubs are desperately trying to get themselves back in the title picture, while the traditionally smaller clubs are trying to find a way to win the league after Leicester showed all how it was done.
Arsenal, in particular, are facing a very strange summer, as with fans turning against Arsene Wenger the club need to make a serious splash to get their supporters excited for next season by offering the hope that it won't just be the same old stuff next season.
Well, reports emanating from France suggest that a big splash is being planned.
France Football have claimed that Arsenal have made contact with Leicester over the transfer of both N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez, with a £60m fee for the pair being the believed first offer:
Arsenal have already enquired about the availability of both players and will offer the newly-crowned Premier League champions up to £60m for the pair – with Mahrez set to cost £40m while Kante is valued at around half the price.
This would be quite a statement by Arsenal, and would be a huge blow to the Foxes who will hope to consolidate their standing as a Champions League club next season.
It is Bayern Munich-esque in a way, and if it were true would suggest that Arsenal have finally learned their lesson in the transfer market that you do have to spend big to get the players you want.
But would they go?
Mahrez had poured cold water on the idea of moving to PSG already this month when he explained that he had already played in France and was happy in England, but you would imagine he could be tempted by a move to the London club.
Kante, on the other hand, looks almost certain to leave the King Power Stadium, as he has been casually flirting with Europe's biggest clubs by remaining coy on his Leicester future.
A deal is some way off as it stands, but this is a very interesting development to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
Arsenal fans would surely be delighted as Kante and Mahrez would significantly improve the starting eleven were they to continue their form from this season at The Emirates next year.
