Arsenal take on Sunderland on Wednesday evening in an important game for both teams. Arsenal need to secure third place in the league and so an automatic Champions League group stage spot while Sunderland are still in danger of relegation to the Championship.
At today's press conference ahead of the game, Arsene Wenger was asked about a possible move for Raheem Sterling. News broke on Monday night that the Liverpool player would likely tell Brendan Rodgers that he wants to leave Anfield.
This was what a somewhat evasive Wenger had to say.
In the summer we will bid for people; at the moment we are not in transfer mode at all. You absolutely want me to say something that I don't want to say. I don't like to lie. If I say that I will and I don't do it, then I have lied.
The Arsenal manager was also asked about a move for James Milner, as with the questions about Sterling, he was similarly coy.
