Stoke's ten-year stint in the Premier League is over: they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace this afternoon, confirming their relegation. That they've been confirmed as leaving the division before West Brom is a particular indictment of Paul Lambert.

That their stint ended in balmy sunshine fell apposite, the days of bloodying the noses of giants on wet and windy nights long gone. Arsenal endured a particularly strained rivalry with Stoke, with frequent defeats exacerbated by the absurd treatment of Aaron Ramsey, who has been jeered and derided by Stoke fans for having the temerity to have his leg broken at the Britannia.

So given the history, it's fair to say that some Arsenal fans enjoyed the farewell to Stoke this afternoon.
