While never too far from controversy, Anthony Stokes was a very effective striker during his time in Scotland. The Dublin native was always amongst the goals during his spells at Falkirk, Celtic, and Hibernian.
He has not played in the Scottish Premiership since leaving Hibs in 2018, taking in some strange stops in recent years. The 32-year old has spent time in Greece, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and most recently Iran.
He has been out of the game since a one-game stint at Iranian side Persepolis earlier this year, refusing to return to the country after the outbreak of coronavirus, with the club ultimately cancelling his contract at the end of May.
He could now be on the verge of finding himself a new club.
Anthony Stokes is strongly being linked with a move to Livingston and it is expected the club will offer him a contract in the coming days.
Livingston are looking for more fire power ti help improve on their fifth-placed finish last season. Their manager Gary Holt has confirmed that they are interested in the striker.
He’s another one that’s on the radar. I like what he brings, I like the qualities he has got.
Hopefully we can have a chat with him and we’ll take it from there.
Stokes scored seven goals in 18 league appearances during his most recent stint in Scotland.
