Anthony Stokes is already facing the sack from his new club in Greece, Apollon Smyrni. Stokes went AWOL from training for a week without giving an explanation, and the club released a statement yesterday to confirm they are looking to terminate Stokes' contract.
"The player is in clear breach of his contract. He has failed to even contact us during the period he has not turned up for training. As a consequence of this, we are looking if we can legally terminate his contract".
If Stokes' contract is terminated, it will be the third consecutive club at which his contract has been torn up.
Stokes, who hasn't scored in four appearances for Apollon, joined following his dismissal from Hibernian. In what was his third spell with the club, Stokes angered manager Neil Lennon when he broke a curfew while in Portugal on a warm weather training camp. The trio failed to report back in time following a team meal and spent the remainder of the time in Portugal training on their own.
It was the second consecutive contract which has come to an early end for Stokes. He rejoined Hibs last August on a two-year deal after also departing Blackburn Rovers by mutual consent.
