Anthony Stokes has made a very left-field choice for his next club, signing for Iranian side Tractor Sazi according to the Scottish Sun.

Stokes had been training with St. Mirren having left Greek side Apollon Smyrni F.C. in April, but according to the report, former Ireland international will now join up with former Wales coach John Toshack in the Persian Gulf Pro League.

The 29-year-old has apparently penned a two-year contract with Tractor Sazi in what must be a heavily financially motivated decision.

Stokes only joined Apollon Smyrni F.C. in January after his contract at Hibernian was terminated, but the striker only made four appearances for the club before going missing in April.
