Jeff Hendrick is officially a free agent. The Ireland and former Burnley midfielder said his goodbye to supporters of the Clarets after four seasons on instagram last night:
4 years done at Burnley. I’ve said my goodbyes to the players and staff already but just a thank you to the fans. It’s been a good few years with some memorable results. Finishing 7th with a little club like Burnley as they say was something else. The crowd noise don’t go unnoticed and it really helps push the lads on so keep it up. You have a great group of lads representing your club so keep being their 12th man and help them in the last few games and next year. I can’t speak highly enough of the lads there, they deserve nothing but praise for their efforts week in week out. Cheers. Goodbye and thanks again
Now all attention is on Hendrick's next move. The Dubliner has been linked to both AC Milan and Roma in recent weeks. It appears that AC Milan is Hendrick's most likely destination. Yesterday Sky Sports reported that Hendrick turned down multiple contract offers from Burnley and sounded confident that the Rosseneri would sign Hendrick in the coming days.

Around the same time, the Hendrick-to-Milan rumour seems to have been quashed by the Italian football journalist Daniele Longo of Calciomercato, which has been breaking a lot of news regarding Hendrick to Italy.

The website Milannews.it also reported that it has heard of no official interest in Hendrick from the club.
It's worth noting that some AC Milan fans on social media were slightly confused by the rumours about the Irishman as they circulated yesterday.

From both the perspective of both football and hair, the prospect of Hendrick marshalling the midfield at the San Siro makes almost too much sense. As Hendrick enjoys his first day officially out of contract, we imagine we'll be learning more about his next move imminently.
