There was a lot more than 3 points on offer in Parkhead on Sunday afternoon. Bragging rights were up for grabs when the fierce rivals Celtic and Rangers faced off for the first time this season.

For Celtic fans, the outcome couldn't have been much better as the Hoops dominated from start to finish to take a 3-0 victory over their neighbours.

The gulf in class between the two sides was evident from early on and Brendan Rodgers's side were comfortable victors in an early season Old Firm derby.

Celtic boss Rodgers has now won 15, drawn 3 and lost only once against Rangers as the reigning champions continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Rangers Fans Confront Players After Awful Old Firm Showing

Rangers manager Phillip Clement, his captain James Tavernier and the rest of the Rangers squad were greeted with numerous unhappy supporters as they were leaving Parkhead and back at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.

Understandably, fans were unimpressed with the nature of the teams performance. The International break comes at a good time for the 'Gers' as the result sums up their unconvincing start to the season picking up 7 points from 4 matches.

But the Belgian manager was trying to take the positives after the match, referring to their 6-0 defeat of Ross County last week while speaking to reporters afterwards:

Don’t forget about last week, it was the best result in around 4 years for the club, so it’s not that black and white.

Due to the differing number of games this year, the schedule for the Champions and Europa League is slightly different meaning the form of both teams after the International break is vital as they both begin their European journeys.
