Dundalk's success in Europe was always going to bring their players to the attention of other clubs. Last week Daryl Horgan - probably the League of Ireland's best player - was linked with a move to Ipswich.

The Irish Sun, who reported regarding Ipswich's possible interest in Horgan, now say that another Championship club, Barnsley, are interested in acquiring the services of Andy Boyle.

After an excellent start to the season - which was mainly due to the performances of Corkman Conor Hourihane - Barnsley are on a run of poor results. They've slipped down the table to 14th.

A move for the 25-year-old Boyle, who has been key in Dundalk's European heroics, could come in January.

The centre-back joined Dundalk in late 2012 and is out of contract at the end of this season. According to the Sun, a number of English club managers are planning to attend next month's FAI Cup final to assess the player.
