It's no secret why most Manchester United fans love Ander Herrera. A player who plays with passion, and celebrated goals like a lifelong fan, he's a big fan of Manchester as a town and regularly posts his adventures through the city on social media, but his comments ahead of the arrival of Pep Guardiola at Man City will endear him to the supporters even more.
For many fans of United, the news that Guardiola will take over their bitter rivals is a tough pill to swallow, and many fear the 'noisy neighbors' growing into one of the best sides in Europe under the former Barca man, but Ander Herrera isn't quite convinced.
Speaking to Independent.co.uk, Herrera suggested that Guardiola will have lofty expectations to meet from the very beginning at his new club:
With Pep, with the multi-million pound outlay they’ve made and will spend with him, I expect the pressure to be higher for them.
The fans are going to expect a lot: that they win the Premier League with a 10-point gap, that they reach the Champions League final... Pep seems a phenomenon to me. His teams always entertain me a lot, but at City the expectations will be very big.
There had been rumours that Ander Herrera was being monitored by Barcelona in the January window, but it's clear that the player takes great pride in playing for Manchester United, even if he's not always in favour with Louis Van Gaal.
It is going to be fascinating to see what happens when Pep Guardiola comes to the Premier League, and even more so if Jose Mourinho takes over at Old Trafford.
It seems as though the United board have decided on Jose taking over in the summer, but if Louis Van Gaal's side were to go on another bad run before the season ends then that appointment may just be fast tracked.
