Gary Neville said it best in the aftermath of his former team's 4-0 win against Everton on Sunday, David De Gea is Manchester United's world-class player.
While arguments could be made for some of the other members of the squad, the Spaniard is the only one you could say walks into any team in the world, and his performance against Everton gave everyone a reminder as to how important he is to United.
He prevented the visitors from equalising with two confident saves from close range in the second half before the score-line was padded late on, and earned a comparison to Pat Jennings from Graeme Souness in the post-match analysis, but at the back of every Man Utd fan's mind is the worry that one day he will be whisked away back to Spain to play for Real Madrid.
It's common knowledge that a faulty fax machine is the only reason he isn't playing at the Bernabeu already, but De Gea handled that situation like a true professional and looks to have been really enjoying his football ever since. It helps to have close friends such as Juan Mata and Ander Herrera in the squad, and the latter of those two is not worried about the size of their Spanish wolfpack being reduced by one anytime soon.
In a chat with Rob Dawson for ESPN, Ander Herrera claimed that De Gea will be going nowhere so long as Man Utd are competitive and can continue their recent successes in terms of bringing in trophies, and that could lead to legendary status for the man between the sticks.
I can see him staying here for more years, but we need to win titles to keep him with us. That is what we did last season.
David is really happy at the moment because we are fighting for everything. We won three titles last season, and the FA Cup the year before, and that is what he wants.
Real Madrid are going to talk about it every summer because he is the best keeper in the world. But we don't think we are far from Real Madrid -- we won three titles last season, the only English team to do it.
We are going to enjoy having him here and try to keep him at the club for as long as possible. If he is not a legend already, he is not too far away from being one of the legends of the club.
Sadly for the former Athletic Bilbao man, the UEFA Super Cup gave most of Europe a view as to how far Real Madrid are away from United in terms of quality on the pitch, but then again they did just become the first side to defend the Champions League and Man Utd are trying to emerge from a rebuilding phase.
That said, Ander Herrera is confident that his pal Dave will be going nowhere.
As for the man himself? Despite having to accept a reduced role this season with the arrival of Nemanja Matic, he is doing just that. Accepting it.
When you hear about players going on strike or sulking when they are not selected, Ander Herrera strikes you as the antithesis of that, A total team player, and as such he understands why his minutes have been reduced.
I feel as important as I did last season. I am a team player and I always say that and if the manager decides to keep me on the bench, I will be ready. I know how lucky I am to play for Manchester United. I will try to enjoy every minute I have on the pitch.
I want to win titles and feel part of the team and feel important, and I really do feel important because the manager makes me feel important. I am happy to be part of Manchester United. When you play for the biggest club, it is not so easy to play every game, every minute.
[Teammates such as Matic, Pogba and Fellaini] make me a better player, and I think I make them better players. This is a team, and when I retire I want to be remembered in this club.
I work hard on the pitch and in training every day, and I will never regret my time here.
Every time he speaks to the media Ander Herrera makes Man Utd fans swoon.
Then add to that the fact that fans of rival clubs absolutely hate him for his mastery of the "dark arts" in big matches, and you'll see that the Spaniard has no reason to worry about being remembered at Old Trafford if he keeps on going as he has been thus far.
