Ex-Ireland U21 international Samir Carruthers has learned the price of pissing into a glass during a race meet and tossing it off a balcony.
Indeed, we have all learned the price for such behaviour. We suspect this was uncharted waters for the British Horseracing Authority too. We don't know if there is a legal precedent for dealing with cases like this.
Carruthers, who delivered an apology on Sky News a few days later, has been banned from every racecourses in the UK.
The British Horseracing Authority clearly can not stand over a situation where paying customers attending a race meeting don't know whether or not they're going to have glass full of urine unloaded on top of their head.
We commend them for their stand and the message is sends out. His fellow public pisser - and fellow Ireland U21 international - James Collins has received the same punishment.
Carruthers will be allowed appeal his ban after a year.
More controversially, Katie Salmon and Jessica Hayes, who were on that same balcony that day, have also been banned for flashing their breasts.
