It was a nervy but ultimately joyful evening for the Irish women's team in Tallaght last night after a dynamo performance from the inspirational Rianna Jarrett drove Ireland to a 3-2 win over the Ukraine in Euro 2021 qualifying last night in Tallaght.

Ireland now finds itself second in the group with huge fixtures against Germany to come.

Arsenal's Katie McCabe opened the scoring in the 25th minute for Ireland.

Just two minutes later, Wexford woman Rianna Jarrett scored her first ever goal for Ireland with a header from a corner kick. Ukraine battled back to level things however. But after an absolutely monstrous wind-aided throw-in from Jarrett, Ireland scored the decisive third goal that would send them on their way to victory.

After the match, Jarrett was positively beaming with pride when she was named Player of the Match. It's been a long road for her: she had three ACL tears before she was 22-years-old. She's enjoying a great spell of form at the moment though, and it's to Ireland's extreme advantage.
