It's 24 years ago to the day since Ireland made our first and only appearance in a World Cup final; losing 1-0 to Italy at Italia 90. While it was sad at the time, I think now we can look back on the occasion with great fondness and mark it down as one of the best days in the history of Irish sport.
To mark its anniversary we've dug up some brilliant footage from RTÉ's build-up to the match, and also the report on when the team met the Pope.
First off, we have what may be the only time a musician – namely Christy Moore – performed during the pre-match analysis. Keep watching to watch some brilliant clips of Irish fans chanting and celebrating and for interviews with school children who are all certain that Ireland will win the World Cup.
That video brought us perhaps the greatest Irish Vine of all time. Make sure to turn the sound on...
Here's some more of the build-up, featuring lots of great footage from the celebrations on O'Connell Street after we beat Romania in the quarter-finals.
Finally we have the video of when the Irish team met the Pope and some lucky fan met Chris Hughton.
