After a difficult 18 months or so, Harry Maguire would have enjoyed his spell with England at the World Cup. The centre back started all five of their fixtures in Qatar, displaying a level of form that was well above what we have seen at club level in recent times.

If he wasn't already, the last few weeks will likely have him considering his future at Manchester United. A player of his age needs to be playing regularly at this stage of their career, something that looks unlikely under Erik ten Hag.

While the Dutchman has made it clear that he is more than happy for Maguire to remain at the club, it seems highly unlikely that he will be considered as first choice anytime soon.

Ally McCoist believes the player will be on the move in the near future.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he predicted that Harry Maguire will leave Manchester United soon and suggested one possible destination.

I think he [Maguire] will move. I don’t think he may move, I’ll go one further – I think he WILL move.

He isn’t going to hang around – he wants to play. I don’t think there are any guarantees that he’s going to march back into the Manchester United team, not in front of [Raphael] Varane and [Lisandro] Martinez...

Well, that’s up for debate (where he could go). Clearly he will want to play.

Straight away off the top of my head, I’d say he’s good enough for Spurs. Arsenal? Maybe not at this moment in time.

But he’s been one of England’s best players at the World Cup.

Spurs would be an intriguing fit.

Antonio Conte has flipped between a back three and back four at various times this season, with the former of those systems being ideally fitted to Harry Maguire. The Italian has also made it clear that he wants defensive recruitments in the January transfer window.

It remains to be seen if a deal could be worked out, although it could suit all involved parties if the price is right.
