It was a relatively quiet night for the imperious Erling Haaland last night at the Bernebeu at Real Madrid and Man City played out a captivating 1-1 draw in the Champions League semifinal first leg. His father Alfie Haaland, however, appeared to be involved in unusual confrontation with Madrid supporters from a corporate box.

Video has surfaced in the aftermath of the game of two men being escorted from a corporate box in the Bernebeu by a number of security officers and police.

It appears Haaland senior can be seen cupping his ears and waving sarcastically at the home fans as makes his way from box.

Other video appear to show Haaland and his companion involved in further confrontation with the supporters below them. Madrid supporter Jamie Santo captured the whole scene on his instagram feed, including Haaland doing the bras d'honneur, while the Twitter account Ella Arguero claimed he threw peanuts at fans.

Alfie serves as his son's agent and is a fixture at all Man City games. He tweeted this morning to explain the situation, and said Madrid fans were not pleased with the way he and his companions celebrated Kevin de Bruyne's equaliser.

City react to the result

It was a closely-fought match that sets up an epic return leg next Wednesday. Jack Grealish, who was on the receiving end of a lot of punishment, said Man City set out to win the game when speaking to media afterwards.

I think Brentford before the World Cup was the last time - I could be wrong - but we even drew a game. I think we’ve won every game since then. Obviously we lost that one but I think even within ourselves, at the Etihad at the moment we just feel unstoppable there.

"We come here tonight to try and win, I swear we didn’t try and get a draw, we come here to win. But, I think it just shows our character. To go a goal down is always difficult, playing at place like this and to go a goal down, I think in the end it probably was a fair result. They had their chances, we had a few as well. I really enjoyed it tonight, man. I loved it."
