An Alexis Sanchez Instagram post has Arsenal fans bemused after a fairly difficult couple of weeks for the Chilean.
It's been a high-tempered January as far as Alexis Sanchez is concerned. After Arsenal drew 3-3 with Bournemouth at the start of January, Sanchez caused headlines by tearing off his gloves and storming down the tunnel, ignoring team-mates on the way down and apparently in the dressing room as well, according to reports. This caused team-mates to fear he might leave, some hacks claimed - fears that might have heightened when Sanchez threw a strop and rather bizarrely sat with his shirt over his head after being substituted with eleven minutes left against Swansea (the Gunners were 4-0 ahead) a few days ago.
All of that is why Arsenal fans are slightly worried by a fairly cryptic Instagram post from Sanchez today.
Though the picture is of Sanchez smiling, the caption reads (according to our highly-professional translating gizmo):
Strong people smile with a broken heart,
They cry with the doors closed and fight battles that no one knows ... !!
This may be related to Sanchez's feelings about his time at Arsenal, but it should also be pointed out that according to Chilean news site 'Ahora Noticias' Sanchez's cousin, Juan Sanchez Sanchez, passed away two days ago aged 43 after suffering from a brain tumour. The website reports that Sanchez and his cousin were very close, Juan visiting Sanchez in London and the two spending several Christmases together in Sanchez's home town of Tocopilla in Chile.
