Alex Pato will not be playing for Corinthians next season, that much is absolutely clear thanks to some barely believable comments given by club president Roberto De Andrade to ESPN Brasil when asked about Pato's situation.
Alex Pato was once the next big thing to come out of Brazilian football, and he was tipped to be the future of a proud footballing nation when he made the move to European giants AC Milan, but slowly but surely he faded into complete obscurity, eventually returning to his home club Corinthians.
This is a decision that De Andrade made his feelings very clear on:
I regret buying him.
But the failure is his own fault. At the time no-one was against it. Everyone knows that we’re praying day and night, praying to sell him.
"We're praying day and night to sell him"? That's hardly an enticing thing to say for any potential buyers. Have you ever heard a club official be so negative to a contracted player?
Madness. He was absolute gold in Football Manager 09, he deserves more respect for that alone.
