During the Man Utd vs Swansea game, Robin van Persie was fouled on the edge of the Swansea box. Just after van Persie fell to the ground, Ashley Williams says he attempted to clear the ball but instead it hit van Persie directly in the back of the head.
Alex Ferguson has since said that Robin van Persie could've been killed and Williams should be banned for a long time.
As soon as I had read those Alex Ferguson quotes I had to rewatch the incident to make sure that Ashley Williams didn't have some sort of sharpened, knife-like studs which could have been used to stab van Persie in the head because I can't see how else it would have been possible.
A cynical person might say that this is classic Ferguson, diverting the media chat away from a game in which Man Utd dropped points in the title race and allowed Man City to gain ground on them. It also might cause distraction from Wayne Rooney's poor performance.
I am one of those cynical people.
