As Manchester United prepared to welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford this weekend, news emerged that Alex Ferguson was primed to return to the club's stadium for the first time since last April.
Present for Arsene Wenger's final game in charge of Arsenal at Old Trafford, shortly thereafter Ferguson was admitted to hospital where he required emergency treatment for a brain hemorrhage.
Making his return to the director's box this afternoon, there was always going to be an exceptionally warm reception for the man who had managed the club for almost 30-years.
Taking his seat, the stadium's PA made sure everyone in Old Trafford was aware that Ferguson had arrived.
Inspiring a raucous round of applause and cheering from the fans, it seems that Ferguson himself enjoyed the attention just as much.
A fantastic sight to see the Scot return, you can watch the reception below.
