Most Liverpool supporters remember the Alberto Moreno era with a mix of horror and fondness. His defending would often be car-crash stuff but the Spaniard certainly had personality. He's the kind of guy who'd get a panda wearing a monocle tattooed onto his body. In an age of boring footballers, Moreno does not lack character. Plus, he clearly loved being a Liverpool played.

He's also now a two-time Europa League winner. Moreno came off the bench last night and deftly converted a penalty in the shootout. During the celebrations afterwards, Moreno went live on instagram for 20 minutes from the Villareal dressing room. And he just couldn't resist a shout out to his friends in Liverpool.

'Man United: Get out! Get out, Man United! Get out!' Moreno proclaims. He added a 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and says Liverpool is always in his heart.

Moreno's instagram stories feed captures Villareal's exuberant celebrations. In the other dressing room however, there was despair.

Here's how Ole Gunner Solskjaer explained Manchester United's subpar performance

“You’ve got players with high quality there. We started with loads of goal scorers, match winners and we hoped that was going to give us the upper hand. We just couldn’t get the first goal.

“Disappointed we conceded with their only shot on target. After we scored it looked like the game was there for us. Scott McTominay was absolutely outstanding out there. For me, the best player on the pitch.”

“That disappointment is the worst feeling. These are the moments you remember most as a player and as a manager, and there are two ways.

“You can feel sorry for yourself, go on holiday and don’t do anything about it or you can go home, do something about it, come back better, stronger, more hungry, ready from the first minute because we know that we didn’t start this season great.

“We fell too far behind to be challenging for the league, so we need to start really well.”
