Last night, an emphatic and ruthless second half performance saw Liverpool smash Rangers 7-1 at Ibrox. Despite Rangers taking the lead early one, a brace from Roberto Firmino alongside strikes from Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliot and the quickest Champions League hat-trick off all time from Mo Salah sealed the win.
One man who certainly wasn't expecting this result was Alan Hutton. The former Rangers and Scotland full back was asked to pick a combined XI between last year's Champions League runners up and last year's Europa League runners up.
Alan Hutton chooses his combined XI
Writing for Football Insider, Alan Hutton oddly opted for 40-year-old netminder Allan McGregor over Alisson, with James Tavernier and Borna Barisic over Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson at full back.
If you're thinking Hutton's picks can't get worse than these three, brace yourself.
With Henderson and Thiago chosen as his central midfield players and Mo Salah off the right wing, Hutton chose Ryan Kent in his left wing position and decided to leave the likes of Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino out with Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak chosen up front.

With Hutton being a former Rangers player and having played with them for six years, it's understandable that he might show some sort of bias towards his first club. But 6 players in the combined XI makes for humerous viewing.

Hutton will likely go into hibernation after these crazy claims came back to bite him last night, but Liverpool fans aren't likely to let this one slide just yet.
Rangers are currently sitting bottom of Group A with zero points from their opening four games and a shocking -15 goal difference.
Giovanni Van Bronckhorst's side could also match or beat the record of the worst group stage campaign in history, taking the honours from Dinamo Zagreb back in 2012.
Zagreb ended their campaign with six defeats from their six games with a -19 goal difference. Should Rangers lose their remaining two games against Napoli and Ajax by a combined score of four goals, they will match the Croatian side's unwanted record.
