In spite of the thrilling football that they have served up this season, Ajax have now finished second in the Eredivsie and second in this final, something a section of their supporters were unwilling to forgive.
As the dejected Ajax players approached their fans to thanks them for their support at the end of the game, some supporters ripped lut their plastic seats and hurled them toward the pitch.
