The in-demand Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt has opted to join Juventus this summer, according to reports in Sky Italy.

The Dutch centre-half has been keenly sought-after in recent weeks thanks to several superb showings in the Champions League. At just 19-years of age, Bayern Munich, PSG, Manchester United and Real Madrid were all reported to be interested.

Per Sky Italia, a £62m transfer fee plus considerable personal terms will see de Ligt opt for the Seria A giants. He will become Maurizio Sarri's first signing as Juventus manager after the Italian left Chelsea last month. The news is a considerable blow to Barcelona as he had been tipped to follow close friend Frankie de Jong to the Camp Nou.

The possible move had been touted as early as May but became considerably drawn out as the players' representatives shopped around. With Juve's first pre-season game to kick off in exactly a month, it seems they have finally swooped to secure the prized defender.
