When you're Arsenal's chief negotiator, you expect to be treated with a bit of respect. You'd like to think you could go about your business in a calm, professional manner, signing players and dealing with contracts with fear of reprisal. Not so.
Dick Law (quit laughing down the back) holds a position akin to Arsenal's Director of Football and he's quite good at his job. In the past couple of years he has led negotiations that have brought Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to the Emirates. However, that hasn't stopped him from getting on the wrong side of the mother of one of Arsenal's young stars.
Ainsley Maitland Niles is highly thought of by Arsene Wenger, so much so that he handed him his Champions League debut against Galatasaray in December. His mother, Jule Niles, may turn out to be a bit of a problem though.
Niles was arrested at Arsenal's training ground last month after apparently striking Law during a meeting about her son's development. That led her to being banned from the club, however, she disregarded that and turned up at an Under 21 match against Aston Villa last Friday and proceeded to become aggressive and threaten to take her son out of the game.
Police were once again called and Niles received a warning this time. This may sound farcical but you have to feel sorry for the youngster trying to make his way in the game and having to deal with that.
